It has been extremely sad to watch as this whole Pike River tragedy has unfolded. However there have been some positive points that can be seen through all that has gone on. We have seen so many people praying for a miracle in this disaster from the Prime Minister to the locals. The way that everyone has worked together to support and help the rescue effort. The fantastic leadership shown by Gary Knowles and Peter Whittall even when they were being criticized and put under pressure by the media. They did a fantastic job in a very difficult situation. Let’s keep on praying for them and the families of the miners.
On a more positive story haven’t the All Blacks been doing well over in Europe? The performances that they have got under their belt this year have me cautiously optimistic ahead of the World Cup 2011. But I am wary of getting to over-confident as we have been disappointed in the past. The other contenders will probably be England and Australia. England always step up when it comes world cup time and their performances indicate that they are on the improve now, 12 months out. Australia have beaten us recently in Hong Kong and although they haven’t had a great northern hemisphere tour expect Robbie Deans to have them back up to speed come next year. Don’t count the South Africans out either. We do have a good chance if our key players manage to stay out of injury trouble during the Super 15.
